This weekend we are writing a sentence for each of the adjectives that appeared in our spelling test last Friday.
We also have a test next Friday on the present simple which can be found in the year 4 folder along with the present simple games.
Next week we will be working on descriptions and reading the ones that you have already written about witches and werewolves.

http://englishkidsfun.blogspot.com.es/2011/11/present-simple-online-activities.htmlEnglish exercises for test on the 20th NOV

What adjectives do I have to study and what do they mean? Check in a dictionary
Wicked, spiteful, unhappy, beautiful, unsightly, unreliable, bad tempered, disgusting, dangerous, unpleasant.
I put beautiful 'cause you always spell it wrong.
Here's a nice explanation.
Verb Conjugation & Spelling
We form the present tense using the base form of the infinitive (without the TO).
In general, in the third person we add 'S' in the third person.
Subject | Verb | The Rest of the sentence |
|---|---|---|
I / you / we / they | speak / learn | English at home |
he / she / it | speaks / learns | English at home |
The spelling for the verb in the third person differs depending on the ending of that verb:
1. For verbs that end in -O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X, or -Z we add -ES in the third person.
- go – goes
- catch – catches
- wash – washes
- kiss – kisses
- fix – fixes
- buzz – buzzes
2. For verbs that end in a consonant + Y, we remove the Y and add -IES.
- marry – marries
- study – studies
- carry – carries
- worry – worries
NOTE: For verbs that end in a vowel + Y, we just add -S.
- play – plays
- enjoy – enjoys
- say – says
Negative Contractions
Don't = Do not
Doesn't = Does notI don't like meat = I do not like meat.

OUR FANTASTIC WRITING THIS WEEK
THESE ARE SOME OF THE WITCH DESCRIPTIONS THAT WE DID THIS WEEK IN CLASS. THIS IS STILL GUIDED WRITING BUT WE ARE MOVING SLOWLY TOWARDS WRITING INDEPENDANTLY.
THESE CHILDREN ARE 9 YEARS OLD AND I THINK THEY HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB.
WE NEED TO BUILD UP THEIR CONFIDENCE IN WRITING, NOT FOCUSING ON WHAT IS WRONG BUT WHAT IS GREAT AND AS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE SOME MISTAKES BUT BIT BY BIT WE WILL CORRECT THESE. WE ARE ALSO MASTERING THE KEYBOARD AS AN ADDED SKILL FOR LIFE.
